National Depression Screening Day
Over 17 million Americans suffer from the highly treatable disease
of depression.
Each October, Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services participates
in National Depression Screening Day. During this event, individuals have
the opportunity to watch an educational presentation on depression, receive
confidential testing, get free depression handouts on 25 different topics
and talk one-on-one with a Pine Rest mental health expert. Testing is
available for all ages, from children to older adults, with English and
Spanish language selections as well.
Since its inception over ten years ago, more than 2 million people nationwide
have received help through this screening. This year Pine Rest Christian
Mental Health Services has sponsored National Depression
Screening Day at many of its outpatient clinics.
Dementia Screening Day
Forgetfulness: A normal part of aging or something more? Dementia
affects nearly 10% of people, age 65 and older. Alzheimer's disease is
the leading cause of dementia, accounting for more than half of all cases.
Four million Americans have Alzheimer's disease.
A simple, 7-minute test can be the first step in helping determine if
you or a loved one is experiencing dementia.
Each year in November, Pine Rest joins a variety of community organizations
in taking part in Dementia Screening Day. Our clinicians provide complimentary
screenings and educational information about Alzheimer's disease and dementia
related illnesses.
