Services for Adolescents

Adolescence is a particularly challenging and difficult time for both teens and their parents. It is also a time when adolescents are particularly vulnerable to the misuse of alcohol and other drugs. And while any use of alcohol and other inappropriate substances is a matter of concern, even more frightening is the potential for significant physical and emotional problems to develop from substance abuse/addictions and dependency.

At Pine Rest we understand the frightening and vulnerable mix of adolescents and substances. Adolescents have needs that are significantly different from adults, and Pine Rest has specially developed assessment and treatment programs to address these needs.

• Services are initiated through an individualized evaluation by a professional trained in understanding adolescents and substance use. A clinical interview is combined with testing, and information from others in the teen’s life.
  
• Based on this professional evaluation, an individualized treatment plan is developed for each person.
  
• This plan may include 8-12 individual sessions for those in need of a less intensive level of care.
  
• Intensive Outpatient programming is available for those who have developed a significant problem with alcohol or other drugs but do not need detox or residential care. This treatment generally lasts three to eight weeks and includes three program sessions of three hours each per week.
  
• Educational and support groups are also available for family members.
  
• We also offer consultation and training services to schools, churches, and others who work with adolescents on a regular basis.
