Casilda Maxwell, PhD
Dr. Maxwell is an outpatient psychologist who has been with Pine Rest since starting her pre-doctoral internship in 2015 and currently practicing at Pine Rest’s Campus Clinic. Dr. Maxwell strives to work with clients by individually meeting them where they are by giving attention to their unique life experiences, psychological symptoms, cultural experiences and spiritual/religious beliefs.
Dr. Maxwell earned her Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology from Morgan State University in Baltimore Maryland where she was born and raised. She then earned both her Masters of Arts degree and Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology at Howard University in Washington, DC. While completing her educational pursuits Dr. Maxwell also earned her Diploma of Ministerial Studies from Spirit of Faith Bible Institute in Temple Hills, MD. She has experience working with military personnel at DC Veteran Affairs, survivors of rape and domestic violence at the DC Rape Crisis Center, and PTSD and dissociative disorders at The Center at Psychiatric Institute of Washington. Additional areas of training and research focus around trauma and spiritual/religious issues.
Dr. Maxwell has an integrative therapeutic approach of cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and interpersonal interventions. She works with adolescents and adults in clinical areas of anxiety, adjustment issues, relationship issues, stress management, spiritual concerns, mood disorders, anger management, personality dysfunctions and survivors of abuse and trauma.
