Diana Ro, PsyD, Licensed Psychologist

Dr. Ro is a fully licensed clinical psychologist who has worked at Pine Rest since entering as a pre-doctoral psychology intern in 2014. Dr. Ro earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Behavior from the University of California of Irvine in Irvine, CA. She received her Master’s degree in Psychology and Christian Leadership as well as her Doctorate of Psychology degree from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena, CA.

Her dissertation focused on exploring the virtue of patience in inpatient psychiatric populations. She hopes to expand this research and create patience-building programs aimed at providing positive skills in times of suffering.

Dr. Ro has provided therapeutic services in outpatient, residential and inpatient settings, such as therapy, assessments and consultation. Currently, she works as an outpatient psychologist at the Traverse City Clinic providing individual, couples and family therapy, and conducts testing and assessments for ADHD, learning disabilities, personality, and diagnostic differentials. She offers teletherapy (video chat) sessions for those who have a variety of barriers to coming into counseling (i.e. location, transportation issues, etc). She also enjoys engaging with the community providing talks on various topics, such as diversity issues and conflict resolution.

Dr. Ro identifies as a general practitioner and enjoys providing therapeutic services for children, adolescents and adults. Her therapeutic orientation is psychodynamic and interpersonal. However, she understands all clients are unique and will build personalized and tailored treatment goals. She takes a collaborative, non-judgmental, and strength-based approach towards clients’ goals. She hopes to explore how our environments have impacted us and what we can do differently to build meaningful and fulfilling lives.

Clinical interests include, but are not limited to: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, adjustment issues, anger management, ADHD, trauma/abuse, relationship and attachment issues, family issues, grief/loss, stress management, and psychotic disorders. Dr. Ro also has strong passion for various diversity and multicultural issues, specifically concerning racial identity development, adoption issues, sexual orientation, gender identity, social justice, and religious/spirituality issues.

“I have had the opportunity to walk alongside my clients in times of immense suffering, and witness the incredible power, strength, and resiliency of the human spirit. I feel blessed and thankful every day to be invited into peoples’ precious narratives and share in their recovery and growth. My goal is to provide a safe and secure place where you can find rest and healing.”
