Julie Smithee, PhD, Licensed Psychologist
Julie has been assessing and treating children, adolescents, and adults for more than 15 years. Originally from Illinois, Julie received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from Michigan State University. She continued her education and training at the University of Rochester, where she was awarded an MA and PhD in clinical psychology. While at the University of Rochester, she engaged in research exploring information processing and the effects of stimulants on children and adolescents with attention deficit disorders. Julie continued her training in the area of child and adolescent psychology by completing an internship at Crestwood Children’s Center in Rochester, New York.
Julie is experienced in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of disorders in children and adolescents including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), anxiety, depression, and learning disabilities. She has a special interest in the assessment and treatment of gifted and twice exceptional individuals.
Julie enjoys the evaluation process and helping families understand and clarify diagnostic issues. She emphasizes an individual approach to the assessment and treatment process and integrates her Christian world-view into her work with individuals throughout the lifespan. Julie is fully licensed by the State of Michigan.
