Shannon received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Honors), with minors in Chemistry and Biology from Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. She then attended Mercer University’s College of Health Professions in Atlanta, Georgia where she received her Master of Science in Health Psychology and is currently a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology within this program. Both her academic and clinical experience has been accredited by the American Psychological Association.

Shannon received training in assessment and psychotherapy in various private practice and hospital settings. During her time spent in these locations, she focused her work on the pediatric population, although she has worked with individuals of all ages and from diverse backgrounds. Primarily, her experience centers around assessing and treating autistic spectrum disorders and she received additional credentialing as a Registered Behavior Technician where she provided Applied Behavior Analysis treatment. Her interests are continually expanding and they include, yet are not limited to, the following areas: adult neuropsychological testing, intellectual/developmental disability evaluations, life transitions and women’s issues.

Shannon’s clinical orientation is based in cognitive behavior theory and therapies, although she has experience in pulling from a wide-range of theories. Her approach to therapy is one that strives to maintain a warm and welcoming environment, remembering that all individuals are multi-faceted and have ever-evolving needs and goals.
