Tamara Spears, LMSW
Tamara grew up in Detroit, Michigan and moved to Grand Rapids in 1990 to pursue her education in Human Services. She acquired a B.A. Degree from Aquinas College in Social Sciences and in 2003, obtained her Master’s of Social Work Degree from Western Michigan University. Tamara is fully licensed in the State of Michigan and is an Active Member of NASW. Her treatment approach includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Play Therapy.
Tamara has dedicated many years to the clinical field and has worked successfully in various settings including outpatient, inpatient residential and community settings. She also has experience providing services to consumers of all ages in home based mental health programs, foster care, schools and domestic violence agencies.
Tamara enjoys finding creative ways to engage children and adolescents in the therapeutic process and helping families improve their relationships. In her free time, she volunteers with Girls Scouts Shore to Shore, Kentwood Community Church, and is a full-time mother to two energetic girls.
