Pine Rest Therapist Spotlight

Daniel Post, PsyD

Daniel Post PsyD

Dr. Post received his Doctorate of Psychology from Wheaton College and completed his pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral residency at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services. His clinical expertise and experience includes outpatient therapy, psychological and forensic assessment and clinical supervision. Dr. Post provides treatment and assessments at the Pine Rest Psychological Consultation Center and serves as the lead forensic psychologist in Forensic Psychiatric and Psychological Services.

What first attracted you to Pine Rest?

I first came to Pine Rest in 2010 as a pre-doctoral intern excited for the chance to learn and study with a number of excellent psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers. The internship was an excellent training experience and one that thankfully led to me being hired after graduation and licensure as a psychologist.

What types of support and opportunities have been important to your career growth, happiness and success at Pine Rest?

Pine Rest has been an exciting and dynamic place to work. I have had the opportunity to maintain a diverse caseload of outpatient therapy and psychological testing while growing into many different roles. I am one who enjoys wearing a number of hats, and have been supported and encouraged by management to grow and develop new areas of practice. There is no shortage of opportunities at Pine Rest.

Most recently, this has involved providing crisis care to the victims and individuals impacted by the Las Vegas shooting in 2017, becoming involved in the psychiatry residency program as a Michigan State University adjunct professor, and assuming the position as lead forensic psychologist for the growing Forensic Psychiatric and Psychological Services department.

I’ve been surrounded by excellent coworkers and staff. Pine Rest has a commitment to clinical excellence that provides ongoing learning opportunities and an atmosphere of collaboration and adherence to best practices.

What have been some of your more rewarding accomplishments?

The growth of the Forensic Psychiatric and Psychological Services at Pine Rest has been remarkable and has filled a large need within Pine Rest and West Michigan for more access to quality civil and criminal forensic services. This growth and expansion could not have occurred without the efforts of the entire forensics team building on our combined experiences and areas of expertise along with solid committed support from our administrative staff who continually go above and beyond to meet the needs of clinicians and patients.

In the end, the best part of my work is walking alongside someone in the midst of significant difficulty and to be one part of the healing ministry of Jesus Christ through Pine Rest.
