Pine Rest Ranked Fourth Largest In National Behavioral Health List

Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services is ranked the largest behavioral health hospital in the state of Michigan and the fourth largest behavioral health hospital in the country among private facilities by Modern Healthcare magazine in the March 2, 2020 edition.

The hospitals are ranked by net patient revenue based on 2018 CMS Hospital Cost Report data. Pine Rest’s net patient revenue, in millions, is $113.6 for its 198-bed hospital.

Pine Rest ranks behind Sheppard & Enoch Pratt Hospital, Towson, Md., third; McLean Hospital, Belmont, Mass., second; and Rogers Memorial Hospital, Oconomowoc, Wis., first. A top listing of government-run behavioral health facilities was also published.

“Our staff members at Pine Rest work everyday to meet mental health and substance use disorder treatment needs,” says Bob Nykamp, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer. “We offer an expansive continuum of services to provide for the growing needs of our communities. We are honored and blessed to have more than 45,000 individuals who chose to receive their behavioral healthcare at Pine Rest last year.”

Modern Healthcare is the only weekly news magazine for hospital and healthcare executives. According to the magazine, about 25% of adults worldwide live with a mental health disorder. In the U.S. alone, spending on mental health and substance use disorder treatment is up more than 60% since 2009.
