With Pine Rest Traverse City Clinic’s New Staff Person, The Addition Of Medication Assisted Treatment Services For Addiction Is Now Offered

Natalie Mattson, Nurse PractitionerPine Rest Christian Mental Health Services Traverse City Clinic expanded its substance use disorders services in September. The clinic hired a new staff person which enabled the service to be added.

Natalie Mattson, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing degrees at the University of Michigan. Mattson has been working in the addiction field in both the outpatient and inpatient treatment setting in Traverse City since 2013. She is certified to treat substance use disorders in the adult population. In addition, she is receiving advanced training through Pine Rest to treat mental health disorders across the lifespan.

With Mattson now at the Pine Rest Traverse City Clinic, she offers medication assisted treatment for substance use disorders. This is an outpatient opioid detoxification program. Mattson works closely with a clinic psychiatrist. It is not a stand-alone or a substitute level of care. The client who meets criteria for this program is also required to participate in other recovery-based therapy programs.

“Having Natalie on staff, and this new treatment, expands the addiction services currently offered. We provide assessment and evaluation, individual therapy, early recovery group meetings, and mental health services,” says Kristine Wilmoth, MSCP, LLP, Pine Rest Traverse City Clinic Manager. “It is important to add this service and allows us to now offer the full service continuum.”

All addiction services are available through telehealth services in Northern Michigan as well.
